Creepy cake maker Miss Cakehead will treat attendees to the inside of her disturbing mind and taste buds. The press release says:

“The event combines live horror action with cake for the first ever time, creating an incredible terrifying edible experience the likes of which have never been seen before. The family farm attraction taken over by renowned creative and food art curator Miss Cakehead for a special event targeted strictly at older teenagers and adults which features some of the world’s most infamous cake makers.

Red Riding Hood chasing you through the woods and the remains of the three slaughtered little pigs strung up and dripping ‘blood’ (strawberry sauce) are just some of the CAKE treats in store for you when the mistress of macabre cake takes over Letchworth Garden City’s Standalone Farm every night from the 29th October to the 1st November. Cakeageddon – the World’s first edible horror farm – will be extreme gruesome cake at its most terrifying.

Scattered around the farm will be a series of large scale cake installations which brave visitors will be able to tuck into if there dare… There will be plenty of nasty surprises in store as they go on their cake-walk though the night… Even the children’s play barn on the farm is touched by Miss Cakehead’s twisted mind, taken over by a nightmarish edible creation of Animal Farm.”

Well who wouldn’t want to go? I know I do! Below is a video of Miss Cakehead and previous scary confectionary projects. Enjoy!

Easter arts, crafts, treats and disturbing peeps

Well, it seems Easter is on the 31st of March this year, which is earlier than I thought. Lucky I’m here to tell you what to do. Remember, if you don’t listen, its the 445stripper pole peepsstick again…

First off here’s a couple of recipes for spooky treats for the family visit. They should know what you’re like by now, and if not they soon will when you offer them a tray of creepy spiderweb-eggs-1cupcakes including brains, spiderweb cupcakes and this assortment of goodies including spiderweb eggs. See, eggs! It’s seasonal.

Imagine if you answer the door holding the trays in this very disturbing rabbit outfit too!

Here are some easter egg decoration ideas for geeks, and some ‘peep dioramas‘ (what’s a peep diorama? Check the second video below) featuring scenes of rabbit massacres, aliens and pole dancing. How can you resist trying to recreate those?! And let’s not forget these Halloween Easter eggs.

Finally here are some videos for those who need inspiration. Enjoy!

Ooh, colours!

Peep dioramas

Spider eggs count, right?

Killer rabbit makeup. You know, for the egg hunt later.

An oddball’s tea party

I’m obsessed with tea parties, probably because I don’t really drink anymore. But, Melting wicked witchof course, no boring parties for me. Here’s a few unusual things you could bring to proceedings:

First off I love psychedelia, not sure why I just always have. Why not get some mugs to match, or for an extra boost of weirdness how about one of these Day of the Dead sugar skull mugs? I’ve got mine!

Or if you prefer drinking vessels that are even spookier, how about these surprisingly sinister mugs?

And let’s not forget there will be those that don’t like tea (weirdos). Here’s a quick how to on serving blacklight lemonade.

Of course no mad hatter’s psychedelic party would be complete without rainbow cupcakes, get the recipe here.

If something a little more disturbing is your thing, and let’s face it why wouldn’t it be, try these. First up is a savoury centre piece treat, Zombie Head Cheese. Triple_Rainbow_Cupcakes_by_dashedandshattered

Next is a recipe for melting witch cookies. Rather timely with the release of this new Wizard of Oz movie.

And lastly my favourite recipes from Halloween Culture. First is the oreo spider web cookies, and to decorate all those cakes here’s a how to for edible glass sculptures.

Super happy fun times!

Monster cakes, rainbow cakes and some evil shoe cakes

I thought I’d share these exciting cakes by artist Scott Hove. He does other varieties of art too, have a quick look at his website. scott-hove-shoe-cakeHove_LG_Snapa1-dolljaws2

For anyone wanting to make their own spookily brilliant food stuffs the obvious choice is the Food and Drink section in blog Halloween Culture.

Anatomical cakes, spooky cards: A Valentine’s Day for odd folks

Oh, well, look at you with your happiness and that. Some of us are trying to be lonely and bitter, don’t you know, so do it quietly.

For anyone unwilling to send cutesy teddy bears and flowers for ethical reasons, here are a few other ideas.

HorrorGreetings.com have a selection of different beasties to choose from on their website, just ignore the epilepsy inducing advert on the homepage if you can.

Feast your eyes on these ‘weird vintage valentine cards,’ which are quite disturbing trust me. Perhaps you can email one to your special somebody (or to someone you’re trying to get rid of).

Of course what you really need are anatomical Love Heart sweets. This tutorial love heartsfrom fascinating site evilcakehead shows you how to make the delightful delicacies right here, and don;t forget to check out their other treats (one such example also fit for Valentine’s Day are these anatomically correct, er, lady part cupcakes). Enjoy.

Drawn as I am to psychedelia (I’m not a hippie) I actually quite like this colourful heart card you can make (put a better inscription hearton the front like, can I lick your eyeball or something). The tutorial is here.

These horror photoshop tutorials were intended for Halloween, but imagine how thrilled your beloved will be when they see you’ve zombified them for a card!

Finally here’s a tutorial on scary Valentine nails for your date with that special someone:

An Alice in Wonderland themed party

If you’re turning 30, like my friend Angie did recently, you ought to accept the fact that you’re an adult and have a party involving cheese, wine and chats about insurance. Or….hire a hall and hold a fancy dress competition in the style of Alice in Wonderland/Victorian, and top if off with a visit to a shisha cafe the next day:

Cakes!

Is he the caterpillar, or Dracula?
The white queen and…uh…a beer bottle?
Embracing my inner cross dressing Victorian lady
Us and the birthday girl
Me at the shisha cafe in Colchester
Emma…looking cool
